Letter Title: Jeffrey Dobkin’s Christmas Letter
This is one of the most powerful letters I’ve ever written. Everyone - or at least most people just entering the MLM industry - seems to get depressed around the holidays. Mostly - it’s about having not quite enough money to go around. In this letter I actualize this up front, then offer to show readers a better way to make money than what they’re doing now. I emphasize how their life can change:

This is the last time I’m going to spend Christmas like this:
I’ve been looking at all the great toys for the kids in all the ads in the papers, and then shopping at the dollar stores.
I’ve been thinking about what I want, and
what I want for those people I’m close to - and
how that just isn’t going to happen.
Every week I look for what’s on sale -
at the discount stores.
I’ve told myself I have champagne taste and live on a beer budget so many times I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever get to open that bottle of champagne.
If you’re like me, this isn’t what you want either. For me, I know this year will be different…”
The letter continues with a strong pitch for changing your life for the better, and encourages people to call. This letter has a range for mailing dates from late October, then by modifying the letter to the past tense - use to the end of January.

Letter Title: This Simple Letter
The concept for this letter was taken from the Internet, and developed further to give the letter a strong, powerful, statement. In one of my more persuasive letters, I ask readers to work smarter, not longer hours, to make more money. I begin with copy flush right at the top of the letter:
“This simple letter could change your life.
Dear Colleague,
There’s a way to work smarter - not harder or longer -
to earn more money. If hard work made you rich, chambermaids
and ditch diggers would be rich. But they’re not. They just
work hard - but they don’t work smart.”
Further down in the letter, I show readers very directly how easily things can change - with a spectacular list of bulleted points to entice them to call, then continuing with a strong persuasive closing 4 paragraphs:
· Start out in your home - or your office.
· Work just a half an hour a week, or 3 or 4 hours/week
· Work whenever you want, however much you want
· Make money - even on your days off and vacations
· You you have no boss - you call ALL of your own shots
· Not MLM - NO upline, NO downline
· NO PERSONAL SELLING, no telephone calls at all
And the work? Easy: it’s placing tiny classified ads for products (your products or ours). Or sending direct mail letters. I’ll show you everything you need to get started in our free…”
This is a hard-pulling responsive letter of excellent quality. It’s designed to be used to business opportunity lists, MLM lists, and home-business magazine subscribers.

Letter Title: Listen to This Tape
Just listen to the CD and get rich? No, it’s not quite that simple, but it’s certainly a novel start to a “make money” letter.
With a strong and forceful copy platform I try to drive readers to listen to the CD that is enclosed with the letter. I know it’s expensive to include a CD - so I struggle hard to find the words to satisfy the objective of this letter: make the reader listen to the audio. The audio on the disk then gets them to call.
That was true then in 2002 when I wrote this program… it’s still true now: this letter works just as hard in today’s environment to drive people to your internet site to listen to your MP3 audio or video. Times change, but I guess not that much. If you have a disc or tape, or need people to visit your site to listen to your audio this letter drives response:
Dear Scott,
I’m sure this is the most incredible statement you’ve heard in the past year or so:
“Just listen to this CD, follow the directions and you’ll make money!”

Your readers will love this letter. It paints a picture of the dream, but it sells the 75 page informational book we publish - which in turn, explains the program in depth, and that information sells the program. We have high conversion rates from people who buy this book to purchasers of our programs - they’re certified mail order buyers and interested in making money through the mail.
